Riva Self Cure range is the ideal radiopaque, self curing conventional glass ionomer restorative materials. With excellent tooth adhesion, fluoride release and high compressive strength, available in two viscosities, Riva Self Cure range is useful for a wide range of restorative applications.

CONTRA - INDICATIONS :-

Pulp capping

• Product may cause skin irritations to some people. In such cases, discontinue use and seek medical attention.

FEATURES :-

Ideal for minimally invasive dentistry

• Riva Self Cure is the ideal restorative material for use in minimally invasive dentistry (MID) as it is a bioactive material which prevents caries from occurring. Natural tooth structure is preserved, so large cavities and undercuts are not necessary.

Great marginal adaptation

• Riva Self Cure is the answer to long term microleakage prevention. Use it as a restorative or a base under permanent restorations. “....self-cured glass ionomer bases were more effective in reducing microleakage in both the occlusal and proximal cavo surfaces than a fl owable resin.

Bioactive proprietary technology

• Riva Self Cure utilizes SDI’s proprietary ionglass™ fi ller developed by our glass technologists. Ionglass™ is a radiopaque, high ion releasing, bioactive glass used in SDI’s range of glass ionomer products. Riva Self Cure releases substantially higher fl uoride to assist with remineralization of the natural dentition

Bulk fill to save time

• Riva Self Cure can be bulk fi lled to minimize chairside time.

The strongest dentin replacement

• When dentin is missing, use Riva Self Cure to replace it. It is the best dental material available today that virtually mimics dentin. No adhesive is required, and sensitivity is nonexistent. Like dentin, Riva Self Cure has a very high compressive strength, ensuring it will withstand long term mastication forces.

BPA and HEMA Free

• Riva Self Cure does not contain Bisphenol A (including it’s derivatives) or HEMA. Use this product on your patients with confi dence and peace of mind

Choice of viscosities

• Riva Self Cure easily extrudes into the cavity, but for an exceptional packable, high viscosity material, use Riva Self Cure HV. You have a choice

Surface hardness

• The greater the surface hardness, the greater the resistance to abrasive wear. Riva Self Cure is a dynamic glass ionomer restorative material that can withstand high penetration of the surface.

Low acid erosion

• Riva Self Cure has a very low acid erosion value. This improves the longevity of the restoration, resisting disintegration and wear caused by oral acidity. The ISO Standard dictates that a material cannot have acid erosion of more than 0.17mm.

STORAGE AND HANDLING

• Do not remove Riva Self Cure capsules from their foil packets until ready to use
• Store at temperatures between 4°C - 20°C (39°F - 68°F) for capsules and 4°C - 30°C (39°F - 86°F) for powder liquid kits
• Use at room temperature between 20°C and 25°C (68°F - 77°F).

PRECAUTIONS :-

• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use after expiry date.
• Do not mix powder or liquid with any other brand of glass ionomer products.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE :-

CAVITY PREPARATION :

• Clean and isolate tooth.
• In cases where pulp protection is necessary, use a calcium hydroxide liner

Note: A conservative cavity should be prepared, employing standard techniques and instruments. Undercuts are not necessary

CONDITIONING / ETCHING :

• Apply Riva Conditioner to the prepared surfaces and leave in cavity for 10 seconds
• Rinse thoroughly with water
• Remove excess water. Keep moist. Avoid contamination.

IMPORTANT : Be careful not to completely dry the surface. Surface should be glistening

PROCEDURE FOR MIXING AND PLACING

CAPSULE SYSTEM :

• Push the plunger on a hard surface until it flush with the body of the capsule. Important: Do not click with an applicator before you mix
• Immediately place activated capsule into the Ultramat 2 amalgamator or any high speed capsule mixer (4000 – 4800 rpm)
• Mix for 10 seconds

NOTE : The working time can be extended by decreasing the mixing time by no more than 3 seconds (i.e. minimum mixing time is 7 seconds)

• Immediately remove the capsule and place into the Riva capsule applicator
• Click the trigger of the Riva capsule applicator until glass ionomer paste is seen through the clear nozzle
• Extrude Riva Self Cure into the cavity, being careful not to trap air under the restoration.

NOTE : Temperatures higher than 23±1˚C will shorten the working time specified in the above table

• At the end of the working time, apply Riva Coat to all exposed surfaces of restoration
• Light cure for 10 seconds.

POWDER / LIQUID SYSTEM (REGULAR SET ONLY)

• Gently tap Riva Self Cure powder bottle on the hand. Using the plastic scoop provided, dispense one level measure of powder onto the mixing pad
• Carefully dispense the recommended number of drops of Riva Self Cure Liquid next to the powder on the mixing pad. Replace cap tightly
• Use a plastic spatula and divide the powder into two equal parts
• Mix the liquid with one part of the powder for 10 seconds and then include the second part and continue mixing for another 15 to 20 seconds
• Place mixed paste into the cavity, being careful not to trap air under or within the restoration. At 23ºC / 74ºF, the working time will be about two minutes
• At the end of the working time, apply Riva Coat to all exposed surfaces of restoration
• Light cure for 10 seconds

FINISHING :

• Finish the restoration using standard techniques, after the specified finishing time
• Apply another layer of Riva Coat
• Light cure for 10 seconds
• Instruct patient not to eat for at least one hour after procedure.

CONTENTS :-

• 1 x 6.9mL (8g) Riva Self Cure Liquid bottle.
• 1 x 15g Riva Self Cure Powder jar.
